After clicking the icon, you will see a search bar appear, here, you will be able to search for the person that you want to add. You will find this button between your name and your contacts list. To add a new contact, all you need to do is click on the “person icon” that has a “+” sign next to it. In the Skype Windows 8, Windows 10 desktop client, once you’ve signed in to your Skype ID, you will see a main window on the right, where the conversations will be shown, and a list of contacts on the left. Just select the one that is correct and once you’ve opened his page, you can send them an friendship request, or an IM. In this window, search for your friend’s Skype ID or name and you will see a list of results. By clicking on the button, you will see a search window open. To access this menu, you will have right click if you are using a computer, or swipe from the bottom of the screen to reveal it.
In the Skype app for Windows 10, Windows 8, you can find the “ Add Contact” button in the bottom menu.
